Hello there!I'm Alamelu Annhamalai, an ambidextrous visual artist based in Chennai. I have been an independent freelance artist and art educator for the past 5 years.
My artwork is rooted in life experiences, complexities of human nature, concepts relating to the changes in society, nostalgia and memory. Apart from my solo exhibition ‘A Soldier of Hope’ (Lalit Kala Akademi) in 2017 which had over a hundred pieces, I raised funds for Blue Cross of India in Feb-March 2020 in my solo ‘Canvas for a Cause’ (C.P.Arts Centre). My work has been featured in several other shows around the country and are a part of private collections both in India and abroad. I've always been interested in teaching, and have created my own art course for children and studied their improvement as a personal project in relation to art therapy, apart from teaching/guest lectures at institutions, schools and conducting workshops. During this lockdown, I've been conducting several online art workshops and have reached students of all ages, from different parts of the world. I also work on commissioned projects with architects/interior designers including large scale murals, specific theme based work, and book illustrations. You can check them out here. |
